Driving Free Targeted Traffic Can Be Quick, Easy and Affordable to Learn

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

By Mike Lawson

It''s usually not rocket science that puts us over top in our businesses. In most cases, it''s the simple little everyday things like a good product, excellent customer service and determination that win out at the end of the day.

I take issue with the school of thought that teaches, "outsource everything, all the time." While I agree that outsourcing is a great and necessary tool for business people to use, it has its time and place.

Let me qualify that statement a bit with this idea:

If you"re driving down the road and don"t know where you are going, how will you know when you get there? If you"re outsourcing your copywriting but don"t have a clue what constitutes well written, effective copy, how will you know if the writer is doing what you paid them to do?

The same thing applies to SEO of your sites. You don"t have to be a programmer, coder or web designer to learn the basics of what makes good websites or are good basic SEO practices.

But you should know enough about it to know if you are getting what you paid for or to at least do the basic stuff yourself. That''s just good business sense. If you intend to do business on the Internet, then you need to at least be functional in some basic computer related skills. It''s a fact of life for Internet business people.

Ask any professional athlete what puts them at the top of their game and they will all tell you the same thing. They are masters of the fundamentals. Everything else is built on that. It''s the foundation that excellence rises from.

There are several top-shelf training programs available to teach you basic SEO skills. They are inexpensive, easy to use and will pay for their self a thousand times over in the long run.

Will you learn everything about SEO in one of these courses? No. Will you be an SEO expert after completing it? Probably not. But you"ll learn enough to know it''s not all that difficult to understand basic SEO. And once you begin to understand something, it loses a lot of its intimidation factor.

If you come away from this article with nothing else, I hope it''s this: "the Googles" are not out to get you. What many people believe is a search engine issue with their lack of traffic is really an SEO issue.

The search engine spiders simply don"t understand what you"re trying to tell them. So they shrug their little shoulders, shake their heads, discard your gibberish and move on without another thought about you. (They"re not really that smart, you see.)

Once you can speak a little "spider" talk, I bet you see things picking up around your site. Spiders love to frequent places where they speak the language. They will also send their friends there more readily, too.

Take some time to learn the basic search engine optimization skills needed to run a website effectively. Not only will you drive a better quality of targeted traffic to your site, but you"ll make more money with fewer visitors. That''s a sense of accomplishment no one will argue about being satisfying.

Using PPC In Your Home Based Business Ideas

By William Drapcho

PPC is one of the four basic types of Search Engines. PPC is also one of the most cost-effective ways of targeted internet advertising for any home based business idea. According to Forbes magazine, PPC or Pay Per Click, accounts to 2 billion dollars a year and is expected to increase to around 8 billion dollars by the year 2008.

Let us take a quick look at how PPC Search Engines work.

These engines create listings and rate them based on a bid amount the website owner is willing to pay for each click from that search engine. Advertisers bid against each other to receive higher ranking for a specific keyword or phrase.

The highest bidder for a certain keyword or phrase will then have the site ranked as number 1 in the PPC Search Engines followed by the second and third highest bidder, up to the last number that have placed a bid on the same keyword or phrase. Your ads then will appear prominently on the results pages based on the dollar amount bid you will agree to pay per click.

How do you make money by using PPC into your affiliate marketing business?

Most affiliate programs only pay when a sale is made or a lead delivered after a visitor has clickthrough your site. Your earnings will not always be the same as they will be dependent on the web site content and the traffic market.

The reason why you should incorporate PPC into your affiliate marketing program and home based business ideas is that earnings are easier to make than in any other kind of affiliate program not using PPC. This way, you will be making profit based from the clickthroughs that your visitor will make on the advertisers site. Unlike some programs, you are not paid per sale or action.

PPC can be very resourceful of your website. With PPC Search Engines incorporated into your affiliate program, you will be able to profit from the visitors who are not interested in your products or services. The same ones who leave your site and never comes back.

You will not only get commissions not only from those who are just searching the web and finding the products and services that they wanted but you will be able to build your sites recognition as a valuable resource. The visitors who have found what they needed from you site are likely to come back and review what you are offering more closely. Then they will eventually come back to search the web for other products.

This kind of affiliate program is also an easy way for you to generate some more additional revenues. For example, when a visitor on your site does a search in the PPC Search Engine and clicks on the advertiser bided listings, the advertisers account will then be deducted because of that click. With this, you will be compensated 30% to 80% of the advertisers bid amount.

PPC is not only a source of generating easy profits; it can also help you promote your own home based business ideas site. Most of the programs allow the commissions received to be spent for advertising with them instantly and with no minimum earning requirement. This is one of the more effective ways to exchange your raw visitors for targeted surfers who has more tendencies to purchase your products and services.

What will happen if you when you integrate PPC into your affiliate program?

PPC usually have ready-to-use affiliate tools that can be easily integrated into your website. The most common tools are search boxes, banners, text links and some 404-error pages. Most search engines utilize custom solutions and can provide you with a white-label affiliate program. This enables you, using only a few lines of code, to integrate remotely-hosted co-branded search engine into your website.

The key benefits? Not only more money generated but also some extra money on the side. Plus a lifetime commissions once you have referred some webmaster friends to the engine.

Think about it. Where can you get all these benefits while already generating some income for your site? Knowing some of the more useful tools you can use for your affiliate program is not a waste of time. They are rather a means of earning within an earning.

Best know more about how you can use PPC search engines into your affiliate program than miss out on a great opportunity to earn more profits for your home based business ideas.

Tips On The Layout Of Your Website

By Matthew McKernan

When designing a website every little detail matters. Down to the size of the font that you use to the size of your images. Even the colors mean something. For example if you make your links the color red it makes people want to click. In this article we are going to discuss the layout and give some tips with the layout that will help with design of your website.

When deciding the layout for the website it is helpful to stick to the standard layouts. You want to be careful on how you design the layout of the website because you do not want to make it difficult for your customers to use. Keep the layout simple. You want people to come to your site and spend time trying to figure out how to read everything on the page. If your customers are having a hard time trying to figure out how to read everything on your site they will get frustrated and leave.

Stick to the three column layout. For example like a news paper. That is how people are used to seeing things and they will have no problem navigating your site. It may seem boring and most owners want there website to standout from the rest but there is other ways to do that. Just leave the layout simple.

Another thing to keep in mind is the whitespace. Whitespace is the negative space on your web page. The space where there isn"t anything. This is important because it sets the tone for your website. Having whitespace can make you site look more upscale. For example when you go to a website that offers catering the website will most likely have a lot of whitespace because they want their website to seem classy. If you go to a informercials website there is clutter they are trying to reel you in so their websites are very long pages with a lot of information. There is not a lot of whitespace.

For me personally when there is things flashing on one side and ads on the other and the site has a ton of information on the homepage. I get confused my eye has no where to focus. I will get frustrated and leave the site if I have to take time to figure out where or what to do next.

This is really the same rule of thumb that goes into most designing. You want to keep it clean and simple. Make sure there is a focal point for your customers eye to focus on. Remember you don"t have to fit everything on your homepage, you have other pages on your site to put everything that you want your customers to know. And in order to do that you need to draw them in with your homepage. Make them want to go thru your site so they can see everything that you offer.

Free Review Site Templates - Should You Use One?

By Jeffrey Fang

Review sites are becoming popular nowadays because of one thing, people are interested to know the opinion of others who have used the product and service they want to avail of. And since a lot of people visit review sites, internet marketers have fully taken advantage of it. The charm of a review site makes customers reach out for their credit cards and before you know it, a sale is made.

The review site business is certainly something you could make money from. If you are interested in starting one, there are several things you have to consider. The first of which is the research to be undertaken while choosing your niche. Once you have this in order, the next thing to do is to effectively design a website. Do not worry so much if you feel that you do not have the creative ability to design one. With the many available free review site templates, you will not risk looking like a newbie in the review site business.

Getting a free review site template, just like anything else, have its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage of a free site template is the fact that they can be used for free. There are also site templates which can be purchased at a considerably low amount, which makes a great deal because a professionally designed one can range from a hundred to several thousand dollars.

Web hosting companies and web designers have nothing to lose when they offer free review site templates. The customers of web hosting companies are the bread and butter of their business. Thus, they have to do everything they can to keep these customers. This is where the popular add-on of free review site templates comes in. Web designers benefit from free review site templates such that they are able to market their work and services as well as get the much needed contact information for future marketing campaigns.

However, most people do not know that when they use free site review templates, they have to give an acknowledgment of sorts to the person who designed the template. Some designers require you to link back to their site when you use their designs, while others are content with just being recognized.

Another benefit of a free review site template is that they are very easy to use. A beginner need to simply unpack the files to his hard disk, upload it to the HTML directory of his domain, and make the necessary customizations afterwards. The process saves a lot of time and effort for the newbie internet marketer. But the best benefit of using a free review site template is that you are given the chance to have a professional looking website minus the fees. Just because it is free, doesn"t mean you"ll end up with a cheap looking website.

A free review site template also has its disadvantages. The most common of which is the sharing of the same template design between two or more webmasters. Since the template is up for grabs for anyone who wishes to use it, don"t be surprised to see your chosen template in someone else''s website. One other disadvantage is that pre-designed templates may have elements which will take some time to load and slow loading time can cost you.

There is nothing wrong with using free templates when you want to have your own review site. Just make sure you know the advantages and disadvantages of using one.

Targeting Online Spending With Search Engine Marketing

By Dominic Donaldson

To get ahead in business, you have to get ahead of the competitor, and to do that you need to make yourself prominent to the public. Whether your business is global or local, advertising strategies need to be implemented to get noticed. Since the big online boom back in the 1990s, these strategies have changed dramatically. We take a look at search engine marketing in a response to increased consumer spending via the internet.

Recently consumer spending has changed from making purchases in high street shops to buying products online. This is because companies can sell products at a more competitive rate on the internet and to a wider audience. It is estimated that there are now over a trillion unique pages online and that this number grows by thousands every day.

Many of these pages are selling products, and therefore it is a highly competitive market. Traditional marketing methods such as advertising on television and in publications do not have the power to affect consumer spending online. Instead, companies are targeting potential customers online through search engine marketing. To do this, it is essential that a site complies with search engine rules.

Compliance means that a website gains authority through relevancy, providing the products actually advertised in search engine listings. As part of a search engine marketing strategy, a company will use a variety of tactics that include pay per click advertising and search engine optimisation. Combined, this will ensure that if a potential customer is looking for a specific product, the relevant websites will be at the top of the listings.

Marketing campaigns need to be tailored to meet the needs of the customer and outshine what the nearest competitor has to offer. As this is no longer geographical, it is possible that an online rival may well be trading from another part of the world. It is paramount that someone making a search can instantly recognise why they should choose to shop with a particular company.

This can be highlighted in the description that goes with the search term, and then followed up by an easy to navigate site. Marketing specialists will ensure that a site has clear and concise information and that all the links within the pages are working. By incorporating aesthetically pleasing design with first class copy, the bounce rate of a site will be greatly reduced and therefore gain increasing authority, ensuring a prominent place in listings for selected key searches.

How To Make Money Online From The Top 10 Ranking

By Juhani Tontti

When you plan how to make money online, you have to cooperate with the major search engines and especially with Google. We do not know exactly, what are Googles algorithms but we have enough information to be able to run the right actions in order to draw our site high enough.

1. The Keywords Are Your Answer How To Make Good Money.

First you have to find out a place on the market, called niche. Actually a niche is a search term, which offers enough daily searches but is not too competitive. Go through some sites on the search engine result page to be able to find out, whether that niche is a market for you.

2. A Mild Competition Is The Answer How To Make Good Money.

When you do a competition analysis, you will compare the supply with the demand, i.e. how many competing sites there is on the result page compared to the daily searches. It is natural, that if the competition is too hard, it is difficult to make money. Some keyword tools use so called KEI figure to illustrate the keyword effectiveness.

3. Prepare A List Of Related Keywords.

Your list should include both high demand keywords and low demand, long tail keywords. You can start by picking one short, high demand search term, like internet business. Submit that into your keyword tool and you will get lots of multiword search terms, which can serve as long tail keywords.

4. Build Lots Of Backlinks From Other Related Sites Into Your Site.

Google sees backlinks as votes. Other sites, which have the link to your site, vote for your site. To search engines this means that your site is useful and will get traffic from other sites. This makes Google to raise your site higher on the result page.

5. A Unique And Fresh Content, Which Is Useful To Your Target Group, Is The King.

The search engines like new, fresh content, which is added to your site. They see, that you in that way serve also their customers and add value to the search engines. That is the simple reason, why they favor your site.

6. Write Articles And Submit Them To Directories.

This is your link machine. Why? Because when you write related articles, which are keyword optimized and submit them to directories, two great things happen. You will get lots of links pointing to your site and you will get lots of readers of whom some will copy your articles into their own site or blog. And the articles will stay in the directories for ever.

Actually to stay high on the search engines result pages requires, that you will follow the status regularly and if your site is falling, just write more articles with that keyword and submit them and you will see that the situation will improve.

SEO Tips - How Can a SEO Company Help Increase Your Website Traffic and Sales?

By Cheow Yu Yuan

The best way to increase your website traffic is through search engine optimization (SEO). Although it may take you months before you can see results from SEO, it is definitely worth the wait. Search engines like Google and Yahoo are getting millions of visitors every day and there are thousands of searches conducted every second. No matter which industry you are in, I believe your prospects are definitely using search engines to look for your products or services. Therefore, a good online marketing plan must definitely include SEO.

Basically, a SEO project is broken down into 2 parts: Onsite optimization and offsite optimization. During onsite optimization, you only work on the website. Some of the tasks during onsite optimization are: copywriting, tagging every page with important keywords or key phrases, making sure the back-end codes are clean, adding xml sitemaps or robot.txt, etc. After onsite optimization, you will move on to offsite optimization where you focus on building links to your site to increase its link popularity. Link popularity is one of the most important processes of SEO and you must do it consistently in order to achieve success in SEO.

When you implement SEO correctly, your website will rank high on search engines for important keyword phrases. For example, if you provide catering services in London and your website is optimized, it will appear on first page of search engines when people search for "catering services London". With this, people who are searching for catering services in London will visit your website and if your offer is good, you will get the sales.

Although you can do SEO yourself, I will not recommend you to do it unless you are very proficient in it. This is because SEO is a very time-consuming project, especially during the offsite optimization phase. You need to build links consistently and naturally which will be very time consuming for you. I believe you should hire a professional SEO firm to do the tedious work and you concentrate your time on what you do best.

Before you engage a particular SEO firm, you should conduct a background check on them. Make sure that they know their stuff and have the experience to produce results. When they give you a quote, ask them to break it down for you to analyze. This is to ensure that you know exactly what you are paying for.

SEO is definitely a worth-while investment for your company. When your website is optimized properly, you will definitely reap the rewards in the near future.

You Do Need A Website For Your Business

By Scott Lindsay

You have decided to go into business for yourself, selling goods that you make by yourself. Your business may be completely unrelated to computers or the Internet, and yet you are being advised that you should set up a web site for your business. You don"t know where to start. You may not even be clear as to why you need one.

There is the possibility that you will be able to make a success of your business with only offline advertising. Flyers, advertisements in your local newspaper or a message on church bulletin boards are among the many ways that you may be able to reach potential customers in your local community, however this is a far smaller audience than you could potentially reach if you also advertised your services or products online.

Obviously if your services are applicable to the local area - services such as an at home day care, dog walking or pet care services - then online advertising may not be as vital because it may largely reach people who could not use your service because it is confined to a specific location. Yet in this age of the digital world there are some people who only search for services or information online, even if they are looking for a local service. Even a small, local business can benefit from having a website.

For other business, such as those which produce goods made to order, reaching the biggest audience possible could mean the difference between making a profit, or a business failure. The more obscure the product you make, the more vital a web site becomes to reach the few potential customers, scattered all over the country, or even the world if you are willing to ship your goods overseas.

The level of detail that your site goes into depends on a couple of factors, the first of these being how much you need to show. If all you wish to show is a page giving the details of your day care, your address and what makes you special, then a single page may suffice. However a sales site for three-dozen products and descriptions of the items that you wish to sell would need significantly more. It would also need some kind of payment processor through which you can accept orders.

Your own level of expertise in web design would be the next important factor to consider. If you"re well versed in the art of web design then putting together a complex site would not be a problem. However if you are a web design novice then you will likely need to hire someone to create the site or use web builder technology. The more complicated the site you site you wish to have, the more money it will ultimately cost.

Though you may not be able to create it alone, having a web site will be an invaluable tool to help you to advertise your business. With it you will be able to reach people worldwide. This possibility allows you the opportunity to convert visitors into lifelong, repeat customers.

Common Mistake in Writing Title Tags

By Rahman Mehraby

There are several mistakes that people make in writing title tags for their webpages. If you want to have a search engine friendly website to achieve higher rankings, you should avoid these mistakes and replace them with correct search engine optimization (SEO) practices. here are some of them:

1. Writing the same title (company name) for all their pages. You may ask who may do such a mistake. I will tell you several big companies that are proud of their brand names have done so. They mention their companies" names as the title of all the pages.

2. Writing lots of unnecessary words to describe the page content. Usually those unnecessary words are the keywords that website owners would like to rank highly for. The mistake gets worse when they use such a string of words for all the pages.

3. Repeating the page''s keyword too many times in an unnatural way. Some people keep writing the same keyphrase with a word before or after them and do this several times. Eventually, the entire title tag would look like a repetition of the same thing with stuffed keywords. This isn"t a good search engine optimization practice.

4. Writing all the title tag in CAPITAL LETTERS. As search engines pay special attention to certain words that are capitalized, some use capital letters for all the words in their titles. This will have no positive consequence for them while applying this rule to the most important word could have very effective impact both on human readers and search engines.

5. Refraining from checking the spelling, grammar, etc of title tags. It''s quite common among some people not to double check such subtle points before publishing the page. The outcome will never benefit them as they expect, because those little points matter in good search engine optimization practice.

6. Copying competitors" title tags in a blind-folded way. Some people who have seen their competitors ranking highly for certain keyphrases, imitate them without noticing the difference in the page content, etc. It''s not only those words at the titles that bring success to a site. Many other factors are involved in search engine optimization process. At least it should be highly relevant to the specific content you have at your page.

7. Using useless characters just to draw attention. You should consider the value of each and every character that takes space at your title. The more unnecessary signs and characters you use, the lower weight your keyphrase will have. This is a fact and an example of good search engine optimization practices.

Time to Take Action

Now, go back to your websites and have a look at its title tags. Double check the title tags and see if you"ve followed the practices mentioned at this article. If so, just edit them and use the correct practice and make it the rule for the pages to create later. This will definitely help your pages rank better.

Top 10 Points for SEO Services to Observe at Title Tags

By Rahman Mehraby

SEO services provide on-page as well as off-page optimization of your pages. Either an article or webpage content is written for you, its title tag is one of the most important factors to be optimized to help your search engine ranking.

What''s a Good Title Tag?

A useful title tag is the one that both your readers and search engines take benefit from. To create such title tags, SEO services should write a title tag that has got particular features. Here are the ten important points to remember:

1. Title Tags must be really related to the page content. They shouldn"t be written only to attract visitors and eventually make them disappointed due to the lack of relevancy.

2. A Good title is the one that uses a few words to explain the whole page. The ideal way is to express a lot in a short phrase or sentence that states the most important point suggested at that page.

3. It must be unique. SEO service providers should pay attention to the fact that the title tags they assign to the pages of a website shouldn"t be a repetition of other pages". Also in writing articles or press releases, care should be taken not to copy other article''s titles.

4. It must be catchy and difficult to resist. When people read it, they should feel strongly attracted to it to the point that they couldn"t simply walk away from it. It should draw readers toward clicking on it.

5. A proper title is descriptive. Some mention very general words or stuff it with keywords. The content will be easily sacrificed if you don"t describe it in a proper manner. People should get some ideas before they decide to read your content.

6. It should be appropriately keyword-rich. Again, I must stress that stuffing your title with keywords wouldn"t help much. Instead try to use your keywords as it is and close to the beginning of the phrase and use short phrases.

7. It should be grammatically correct. Some ignore or pay little attention to this significantly essential factor. You lose your credibility among your readers if your words don"t comply with grammatical rules.

8. The spelling of all words within it must be correct. As people read it, they should not find any mistakes in the spelling of the words you"ve used. Otherwise, you will lose your authority.

9. It must be in accordance with Title Case rule. There''s a specific capitalization rule observed here. To introduce yourself as professional in what you"re publishing, you should observe it.

10. It should be positioned within its title tag code. In the source code of the webpage, there''s a header and this tag should be within its own tag and at the first line of the head section.

Time to Take Action

Once you observe the above 10 points while writing your titles, search engines will rank you higher and readers will read your content more. It may look a bit hard first, but one will master it automatically as it''s done a few times. It''s much better to start today and make positive differences.
